Description
A rare chance to do an attractive walk in the Lower Blue Mountains. We meet at the entrance to the Vale of Avoca Recreation Centre at 09:00 on Tuesday 13th April. At the traffic lights in North Richmond you head left along Grose Vale Road for 7 km then turn left along Cabbage Tree Road for a further 3 km. (Map attached). For the walk itself we head “Down the Wire”, a steep descent to the Grose River. Then we make our way upstream to the junction of Burralow Creek with the Grose River and climb up the slope to Paterson Hill. We will have an early lunch and marvel at the giant stone men before descending to the junction of Burralow Creek and Cabbage Tree Creek. From there we head back up Cabbage Tree Creek to the cars. Estimated time 4 to 5 hrs. Most of this walk is off track and there is a steep descent and ascent. As always in such situations care needs to be taken but there is no exposure or technical difficulty. I will take a tape in case.
