Description
Upper Hat Hill Creek at Blackheath is a grade 4 creek walk. It is a good opportunity to enjoy easy walking after the fires and see how the bush is recovering. The walk is only 3 km. It begins on a well formed bush track that takes us to cliffs above Hat Hill Creek. From here we look down on a large cave or amphitheatre. Descending the cliffs is made easier with three fixed ropes used by rock climbers. The descent can be made without using the ropes. Once in the creek we look around the amphitheatre then make our way upstream to Robb Ave. On the way there is some very pleasant creek walking with cliffs, pagodas, pools and small waterfalls. There are some rough sections and we cross the creek several times. Limit 10 people. We all have a responsibility to prevent the spread on COVID19. Many of our members are in the vulnerable age group. On club activities members will practice social distancing at all times. Gloves must be worn for descending the ropes.
