Description
Australia's 12 Highest Peaks is approximately 50km, grade 4 circuit hike, located in the Kosciuszko National Park, NSW. All twelve of the Highest Peaks are within twelve kilometres of each other (at least as the Crow flies). The hike should take 3 days to complete. Day 1: Charlottes Pass to Cootapatamba Hut. Approx 13km. 1: Mount Stillwell 2054m. 2: Rams Head, 2190m, 3: Rams Head North. Camp near Cootapatamba Hut. Day 2: Cootapatamba Hut to Wilkinsons Creek. Approx 17km. 4: Ethridge Ridge 2180m, 2177m, 5: Mount Kosciuszko, 2228m (but be warned, it can be a bit like Pitt St), 6: Abbott Peak, 2145m, 7: Mount Townsend, 2209m, 8: Alice Rawson Peak, 2160m. Camp near Wilkinsons Creek. Day 3: Wilkinsons Creek to Charlottes Pass. Approx 19km. 9: Mount Northcote, 2131m, 10: Carruthers Peak, 2145m, 11: Watsons Crags, 2136m, 12: Mount Twynam, 2195m. And on the way down off the range we can go check out Blue Lake for a quick dip in the cool alpine water. Option is to stay overnight in Jindabyne or camp at Ngarigo Campground the night before the hike
