- Description
- In 1804 the explorer George Caley descended into the Devils Wilderness via a pass that he described in his journal in some detail. That pass is still there today just as Caley found it, unnamed and uncommermorated. We will trace a portion of Caley’s route, including the aforementioned pass, as far as the junction of Wilderness Brook and the Grose. From there we will follow the Grose downstream via what remains of the 1860 Engineers Track to the gully at 726833 where we will exit to Browns ridge and the fire trail back to Paterson Range and our vehicles. Expect a long, hard day. Off track, scrub, steep loose ground with one 10 meter climb down.
