Description
This can be a challenging walk and requires a 4wd to get to the trail head. Although the walk distance is quite short, only about 5 kilometers, the descent and ascent is the challenge. Starting on a 4wd fire trail, we drive to the start of the walk if conditions permit, otherwise it could result in a few kilometers walking. From the trail head we go steeply down through a rocky and bushy track, it can have a lot of leaf litter as well. It is steep and slippery. Near the bottom the bush turns into a rainforest then we walk along the dry creek bed to a huge sandstone cliff wall, and not far beyond here are the Lagoon Creek Falls. Depending on time we will venture down further to Wheeny Gap Falls. Same route back. Afterwards if interested, we can continue onto the Bilpin brewery for a sip of local cider and wood fired pizzas.
