Description
This walk takes you to 3 of the less commonly visited lookouts on Mount Banks. The walk starts at the Mount Banks Picnic Ground with a 1 hr stroll along the fire trail to the south. We then follow a gentle ridge through a small cliff line to the Onion Rings. This is one of the best examples of this type of feature in the Blue Mountains. The lookout has a lovely view of the fire trail as it continues its diminishing way to David Crevasse, Zobel Gully and Explorers Range. We now cut across to Mount Banks Walls to the site of the famous 500m (or possibly 400m) abseil. This is a stunning lookout over the Grose Valley. Next we head up an overgrown ridge to Mount Banks trig point, and down to 270 Degree Panorama Point. This has a lookout back from the 500 m abseil all the way down and up the Grose Valley. Finally we head back to the tourist path and return to Picnic Point. Estimated time around 5 hrs.
