Description
Find out for yourself why this unique area, currently under threat, must be better protected. Park the vehicles at Airly Gap. Walk south west following the alignment of the former tramway to the transfer station site and the double track skip haulage to the high level tunnel through the south west end of Mount Airly. Climb the incredible pagoda spur to the top of the south west corner of Mount Airly, then traverse eastwards on the top/southern edge of the mountain, full of spectacular cliffs, overhangs and caves. Head north to descend into a rainforest tributary of Gap Creek. Scrambling and exposure. About 8 km.
