- Description
- This is a 22 day pack walk on the 426km Hume & Hovell Track which stretches across South-Eastern NSW, from Yass to Albury. Finishing at the Murray and passing the Murrumbidgee and the Tumut rivers – the long-distance track traverses boardwalks, single track, fire trails and quiet back-country roads, following the historic route of the two explorers after which it’s named. The route crosses more than 100 footbridges, runs along rivers’ edges and through cool-climate forests, with 17 dedicated campsites and picturesque picnic spots along the trail. There will be 4 food/resupply drops organised by the leader and 5 campsites/towns to shower/laundry/recharge devices. Experience carrying full pack (tent etc) and at least 5 days food required. The leader has not done this hike so it is 'exploratory' for her. From the Hume & Hovell Track website: "Surround yourself with quintessentially Australian sclerophyll forests of eucalypts, wattles and banksias, up steep climbs to sweeping views of the valleys below, along boardwalks crossing rich swamplands and or along clear streams of snowmelt, tumbling from the mountains beyond"!
