Description
Zorro Canyon, Grade 3, is a very short canyon on a fire trail off Sunnyside Ridge on the Newnes plateau. There are three abseils. A short one in a slot, a tricky one in the dark, down a sloping rock into a thigh deep pool and a nice 20 m abseil at the end of the canyon. The exit is up a wonderful rainforest gully. After abseiling into the pool on abseil 2 you can change clothes immediately and remain dry for the rest of the day. Pleasant View Canyon is very close to Zorro, on the other side of the ridge. There are no abseils. It is a nice, walk through canyon ending with great views of Carne Creek and the cliffs opposite. There are holes and cracks to explore. These canyons are suitable for less experienced canyoners and are a lot of fun. For both canyons the walk in and out is less than I km. The weatherzone forecast is : Mostly sunny temperature 5 to 16 degrees, 20% chance of rain less than 1m
