Description
Zorro Canyon is situated on the Birds Rock Fire Trail, off Sunnyside Ridge on the Newnes Plateau. Sunnyside Ridge Road has many pot holes and puddles. The fire trail to the canyon is eroded in parts. 4WD vehicles are required so let me know if you have a 4WD or need a lift when you apply to join. . NPWS has closed the fire trail to vehicles about 500m from Zorro canyon so extra walking is necessary. Zorro is an ideal slot canyon for beginners. It has 4 abseils and some narrow dark sections. The short walk in and out through thick regrowth allows time to visit Pleasant View Canyon on the opposite side of the ridge. Pleasant View is an enjoyable walk through canyon (no abseil). I expect we will push through thick bush to reach the canyon.
